Our Teenage Dreams So Hard To Beat

john peel.jpg
Perhaps no radio DJ in history has been more influential than John Peel. Since the 60's, he's been responsible for breaking loads of new bands, exposing mainstream UK listeners to punk, reggae, hiphop, and drum & bass before they'd crossed over. Without him, we may never have heard of Pulp, The Smiths, Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground, or Blur. Well into his 60s, Peel approached music with the passion of a teenager and the ear of a genius.

Dear old John Peel has died at the age of 65, whilst on holiday in Peru. His favorite song was Teenage Kicks, by The Undertones. He has requested that his tombstone bear a line from that song: "Our Teenage Dreams So Hard To Beat". Goodbye, John. Cheers.
